All businesses large and small are looking at cost effective and reliable ways of generating new leads and new introductions.
For the past 14 months I found myself leaving the house at 5.45 am to take part in a local business networking club, there are many local ones about, you can find them all listed on Google, but the one that I chose (or rather that accepted my application) is BNI – Business Network International.
I’m often asked what goes on in these early morning meetings and there is much myth and speculation about pressure selling and pyramid style schemes, all of which, from my experience with BNI are totally wrong.
The experience of my business with “networking” and I’ve spent tens of thousands over the years in all areas of marketing, is that £ for £ there probably isn’t an easier and more direct method of growing your circle of contacts locally and ultimately improving the success of your new business marketing efforts, don’t just take my word for it but go along to one of the many events and networking clubs and “try before you buy”
This week I was delighted to win “Notable Networker Award” from my own group, and I can tell you it feels great, knowing not just that we are making a return on our investment, but also we are helping to contribute to the growth of the fellow members and their respective businesses.
Therefore for my company the answer to the question is definitely “Yes” and my advice is don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
